The National Museum of the American Indian – New York, the George Gustav Heye Center, is located within the historic Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House. The museum has permanent and temporary exhibitions, music and dance performances, films, and symposia about the Native people of the Americas.

    oh these are stunning . . .. have noticed before that those American museums built in the classical style do amazing doors, and these are fabulous as are the stairs! Also liking the new avatar 🙂

    Oh my those grand staircases, plus the elevator doors…sigh. Despite those beauties, I must say that the first door is still my fave.

    Sherry, wonderful photos of artistry and building craftmanship that we just do not see much of these days in the new buildings; that old style detailing was a bit labor intensive. Gorgeous!

    I’m so glad you spelt it out, Sherry. I hadn’t a clue and nothing about that building says American Indian to me. Very grand! 🙂
