Insects and Flowers

Lots of insects are all out taking advantage of the flowers and greenery in June. I pulled in a few from previous years to illustrate a few common species. Insects are tricky, I often use BugGuide.net to get help identifying them.

I found a nice simple guide: A Pictorial Guide to Some Common Bees of the New York City Metropolitan Area (Images and descriptions compiled by Kevin C. Matteson).

These are lovely. I think my favourite thing about macro is that you can get a lot of different shots from such a small area. Great when the knee is sore 😊

I went insect hunting today. A problem with macros is so many are no good. Thanks for looking.

I find myself doing the same, between plants and insects, everyday is a new discovery and time spent referencing guide books. Great photos.

I have sent in pictures and they managed to ID them. BugNet is a very impressive site and so are the folks that run it.
