On to the Next Level

I am getting cabin fever. I want to be out in the park making photos. I need to get over this winter long bronchitis before I spend long hours outdoors. Today it is 4 degrees Fahrenheit! I must be patient, I’ll be out there soon making more photographs. Being housebound gives me the opportunity to work on my photographs. I took these photographs from January in Central Park, to the next level. Photographic art – composites with brushwork.

    Glad to see you are working and protecting yourself from the brutal weather. I loved the first two pictures. The background and snow worked great for the cardinal and so did the bare snowy trees behind the Fox Sparrow. Personally I not like the muted effect behind the nuthatches plus the birds lacked sharpness. I don’t like the colors behind the sparrow – maybe too sentimental for my taste.

      I appreciate your comments. You are one of my most helpful critics. I disagree with one comment. The bottom 2 nuthatches are sharp. The top one shows some blur due to movement. I would be ashamed to show out of focus photos.

      I used technology heavily. I used a digital camera (Nikon D750). Plus Lightroom, and Photoshop to create composites, enhancements, effects, etc. Lightroom and Photoshop are the tools of the 21st century’s darkroom.

    Better you stay home. These photographs are perfect. I love the whimsical look of the
    Fox Sparrow. The Cardinal is beautiful against the background. The White-breasted Nuthatches are lovely against the wintery white and grey background to offset their own colors. My eye is
    drawn to the structure of the three nuthatches lined up on a branch, The muted background offsets the loveliness of the White-throated Sparrow. You could not have done better.
