I created this last winter from an older image of a Cardinal photographed in the Park. The watercolor was brushed in using a Wacom Tablet and Corel Painter. Part of the photo of the bird, especially the eyes, is unaltered.
Created in Photoshop and Corel Painter 11/24/2013. NIKON D7000, f-stop 115.6, exposure time 1/800 sec., ISO 720, exposure bias 1.3 steps, focal length 600mm, and max aperture 6.5.

I love the bubbles-as-cold snow effect. The impressionistic quality of this one is perfect.

The bubbles are watercolor drops added for effect, design and color. In one version of this I added snowflakes, but that was a bit too kitsch. Thanks for getting me to describe it. Exactly what I need to do.
